This personalized bamboo dragonfly is hand-tuned and laser-engraved with your message. Each piece is split, shaped, sanded and balanced at the Liên Xoan workshop in Thạch Xá, then engraved to order with the name, initials, or date you send us. When it’s done, it rests on a fingertip or the tip of a pencil — as if floating in mid-air.

Engraving is done on natural, unpainted bamboo so the mark darkens into the grain and reads clearly for years. Because the inscription is cut after the piece is tuned, the balance is never disturbed.

How a personalized bamboo dragonfly is made

Mature northern Vietnamese bamboo is cured in the open air for several weeks, split by hand along the grain, and shaped into wings, body and tail. After sanding, each piece is tuned on the artisan’s fingertip by feel until it rests in balance. The engraving is added last, so nothing about the balance is changed by the mark.
